Good value for Solo Plan

I was looking for a virtual phone system for my new freelance gig and Grasshopper kept popping up. I snagged the Solo Plan during a 10% off annual deal. The 7-day free trial let me test everything out, which was great for my budget. It felt like a solid investment, especially with the yearly discount. No regrets.

Easy to set up

Needed a second number for my small business without getting a whole new phone. Grasshopper worked out well. Just downloaded the app and set up a local number. It was pretty straightforward, surprisingly. Didn't have to jump through a bunch of hoops. Calls came through fine on my personal cell. Saved me a headache, honestly.

Consistent service over time

I've been using Grasshopper for my consulting business for about two years now, always on the Small Business Plan. This latest renewal was as smooth as the first time I signed up. I appreciate that the service is reliable; I haven't had any major issues with call quality or the app crashing, which is important for client calls. I ported my existing number way back then, and that was painless. It's just a consistent experience, which is why I keep coming back instead of looking at other options like RingCentral or Phone.com. They just do what they say they'll do, every time.

Thinking about Grasshopper for my small business. Is it really easy to set up, or am I gonna need a whole IT team?

E Elena 2 months ago
Nah, it's super straightforward. I got it running on my iPhone and my laptop in like 15 minutes. Just follow the app prompts.

Yeah, I use it for my side gig. You basically just download the app and pick your number. No special hardware or anything. You can port your old number too if you want, but that takes a bit longer.

Are there any current discounts for new users? I'm signing up soon and wanna get the best deal.

D Daisy K. 2 months ago
They usually have a 7-day free trial, which is cool. Also, look for annual plan discounts, sometimes up to 20% off if you pay yearly.

Check their site around September or November, those are usually good times for promos. I got 10% off my first year by paying annually last December.

Does Grasshopper actually work well for international calls? I have a few clients overseas and need to know if it's reliable.

R Rachel 2 months ago
I've used it for calls to Canada and Mexico without any issues. Sound quality was fine. Dunno about more exotic locations though.

It supports international calling, but be aware of the rates. They can add up pretty quick if you're doing a lot of long calls. Check their pricing page for specifics.

I saw some ads for RingCentral. How does Grasshopper compare to that, specifically for a solo entrepreneur?

M Mark D. 2 months ago
Grasshopper is way simpler for solo stuff. RingCentral felt like overkill with a million features I'd never use, and it was pricier too.

Yeah, if you're just starting out and need a professional number without all the bells and whistles, Grasshopper is probably better. RingCentral is more for bigger teams, I think. Google Voice is even simpler/cheaper but doesn't have nearly as many business features as Grasshopper.
